Happy Winter!

We got about 2 inches of snow yesterday which called for an early dismissal yesterday and a 2-hr delay today. Of course, my nutty family had to get out there and make snow angels!

The Meat Patty Hand

Trevor had been asking me to experiment with this idea for a meatloaf shaped like a hand for over a year, and we finally put it together this year for Halloween (using my new roasting pan!). I won't bore you with the particulars, you can follow the pictures, but it did actually turn out better than I thought it would. It was both disgusting and delicious at the same time!

HAPPY FALL!!!

I love, love, love fall! Cool, crisp weather, beautiful colors, lovely crunching leaves, great comfort foods, cozy sweaters, and lower electric bills. Yeah, I know, that last one isn't very poetic, but all you budget-followers know what I'm talking about. I wish fall lasted longer here, before dropping into dreary winter, but at least we have some great holidays to commemorate it with - Halloween, Sydney's birthday (Nov.4th, she'll be 6!), Thanksgiving...

Ocean City!

Spent a day at Ocean City this week, and we loved the boardwalk and the beautiful beaches. Trevor tried a funnel cake for the first time, the girls went crazy in Candy Kitchen, and we all loved riding the waves on the boogie boards. Weather was perfect and it was a fun family day!

Spring Sickness

When Sydney gets a stomach virus, she's a real trooper, and this spring was no exception. We were getting ready to travel up to OH and PA for a visit when she got sick, but she did not want to miss this trip, so she brought along her handy "puke bowl" and we set off. Here she is sleeping in said "bowl" during the long car ride. Love that kid!

Doggie bliss

We've had Sienna (left) and Leo for 2 months now, and I can finally say I've hit doggie bliss. I love dogs, all kinds, and I've been a huge admirer of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels forever but never imagined I'd own one, let alone 2. My amazing hubby surprised me by "gifting" me these 2 additions to our family for Easter!
It's been lots of work and tons of frustration, but we've ironed out our training issues, and I am now the proud owner of 2 well-behaved dogs. Hooray!

And don't forget Miss Sydney Claire...

Not to forget my "baby" in the bragging, Sydney had her spring performance at school on Friday and did a wonderful job. She's very poised up on stage, except when she's sticking her tongue out at Dad in the audience!

This post is just to brag about Charlotte - she's the best! She took her first-ever spelling test and got a 100%++ on it! The ++ was for getting her 2 bonus words right too. I'm so proud of her!!!

Snowed in...

Well, we've been snowed in since Friday, and we're all getting a little cabin fever. We got 30 inches of snow Friday and Saturday, we got 6 more last night, and right now it's coming down so hard I can barely see to the end of our steps. The girls have had no school and are canceled through the end of the week already, and Trevor is off of work - thankfully he's getting paid days off. We're starting to run out of things to do, and the snow is so high Sydney can't walk in it anymore (she doesn't appreciate this at all, but it's kind of funny to the rest of us). So, until this settles a little, we're kind of stuck. Maybe we'll make cookies today...
